Pelican- Years 5
Program Day / Time: Saturday - 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Pelican program is designed for Year 5 students. Pelican Program is designed to give the autonomy and creative freedom to students in coding with great deal of emphasis on debugging and problem solving. Students in this program are expected to take the first steps in solving all their own coding problems as they arise, and when solving problems, they should be encouraged to work with peers to overcome obstacles rather than relying on educator.
This program will develop the cognitive maturity in the kids to think about plans that they want to bring to life. Students will learn to how to code-to-decode the real-world problems with the help of problem-solving techniques and discuss societal impacts of computing and the internet.
Pelican Program runs throughout the School year as follows:
- Semester 1: Term 1 and Term 2
- Semester 2: Term 3 and Term 4 (Repeat)
Pelicans will learn:
- Solving real and world problem
- Creative thinking
- Computational thinking
- Abstracting and modularizing
- Collaboration techniques
- Problem solving techniques
- Persistence and
- Communication skills
Prerequisite: Year 5 or Completion Quokka Program.
Program Length: 9 Weeks during School Terms.
Program Timings: Saturday – 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Award: Earn CODESTAR Certificate of Program completion
